#6. Advanced Communication: The Info Hierarchy
Priority 1: Immediate Threats
Call these INSTANTLY:
- "AWP Long!"
- "Rush Banana! Five!"
- "Flanking connector!"
Priority 2: Enemy Count & HP
Call after engagement:
- "Two Palace, one lit 40"
- "One Apartments, full HP"
- "Tagged him 67, Market window"
Priority 3: Utility Usage
Call for team economy knowledge:
- "CT smoked A"
- "They have no flashes left"
- "Molly incoming Banana"
Priority 4: Strategic Observations
Between rounds:
- "They stacked A last 3 rounds"
- "AWPer always plays Long"
- "They force every save round"
The 3-Second Rule
No Backseating
#7. The NATO Phonetic Alphabet (For Clarity)
In chaotic situations, use phonetics:
| Letter | Phonetic | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| A | Alpha | "Enemy Alpha site" |
| B | Bravo | "Rotating to Bravo" |
| C | Charlie | "Charlie down" (Player C eliminated) |
| D | Delta | Rarely used in CS2 |
| T | Tango | "Three Tangos Banana" (3 terrorists) |
| CT | Charlie Tango | "Two CTs rotating" |
When to Use: Only in 5-stacks with voice discipline. In solo queue, stick to standard callouts.
#8. Regional Callout Variations
Some callouts differ by region.
Heaven vs Rafters
- NA/EU: Heaven
- CIS: "Вход" (Vkhod - Entrance)
Goose vs Elevator
- NA: Goose (Dust 2 A site box)
- EU: Sometimes called "Elevator"
Tetris vs Boxes
- Universal: Tetris (Mirage A site)
- Beginners: "Stacked boxes" (wrong, but understandable)
Pro Tip: When playing with international teammates, clarify callouts in warmup: "What do you call the elevated position at A?" "Heaven." "Good, same."
#9. Communication Etiquette: The Unspoken Rules
Rule 1: Dead = Silent (After Info)
Bad: "Oh my god, how did I die? That's so BS! He was so lucky! This game is broken!"
Good: "One Jungle, 60 HP." [Then silence]
Rule 2: No Micromanaging
Bad: "CHECK LEFT! NO YOUR OTHER LEFT! RELOAD! WHY DIDN'T YOU PEEK?!"
Good: "Two enemies left, bomb is B. You got this." [Then silence]
Rule 3: Acknowledge Calls
When teammate calls: "Smoking CT"
You respond: "Roger" or "Copy" or just "K"
Why: Confirms you heard it. Prevents repeated callouts.
Rule 4: Use Radar Pings
How: Hold X (default key) → Click on minimap
Use Cases:
- You're dead and want to point out enemy position
- You're in a 1v1 clutch and can't talk
- Your mic is broken
The Mute Strategy
#10. The "Lit" System: Damage Callouts
When you damage an enemy, call their remaining HP.
The Math
Starting HP: 100 Example: You hit them for 67 damage.
Correct Callout: "Lit 33" (They have 33 HP left)
Wrong Callout: "Lit 67" (This means you did 67 damage, but teammates think they have 67 HP left → confusion)
Common Damage Ranges
| Weapon | Damage | Remaining HP | Callout |
|---|---|---|---|
| AWP Body Shot | 85 | 15 | "Lit 15" |
| AWP Leg Shot | 68 | 32 | "Legged 32" |
| AK Headshot (no armor) | 143 | Dead | "Dead" |
| AK Body Shot | 36 | 64 | "Lit 64" |
| Deagle Headshot | 73 | 27 | "Dinked 27" |
| HE Grenade | 50 | 50 | "Naded 50" |
Pro Tip: CS2 shows damage in the top-right after you die. Wait 1 second for it to appear, THEN call it accurately.
#11. Clutch Communication: What to Say (and Not Say)
When Your Teammate is in a 1v3:
DO:
- "One low Palace, two full HP A site. 45 seconds left."
- Give factual info, then SHUT UP.
DON'T:
- "OMG CLUTCH OR KICK!"
- "BRO YOU GOT THIS EASY!"
- "PEEK HIM PEEK HIM!"
When YOU'RE Clutching:
DO:
- Mute yourself (press mute key)
- Focus on sound cues
- Check radar for info
DON'T:
- Ask teammates for help ("Where is he?")
- Panic
- Rush unnecessarily
The Pressure Paradox: Teammates screaming "YOU GOT THIS" actually INCREASES pressure and lowers clutch success rate. Silence is support.
#12. Radio Commands: The Quick Comm Wheel
CS2 has built-in radio commands (press Z, X, C).
Most Useful Commands
Z Menu:
- Z-1: "Roger"
- Z-2: "Need Backup"
- Z-3: "Enemy Spotted"
X Menu:
- X-1: "Go Go Go" (for rushes)
- X-2: "Fall Back" (for retreats)
- X-3: "Hold This Position"
C Menu:
- C-1: "Follow Me"
- C-4: "Negative"
- C-5: "Nice"
When to Use:
- Your mic is broken
- You're in a library/quiet space
- Teammates speak different language
#Frequently Asked Questions
Use descriptive language: "One behind the boxes at A site, near the stairs." It's longer, but clearer than saying "One Tetris" to someone who doesn't know what Tetris is.
If you play on EU servers, learn basic Russian callouts: "Один" (odin = one), "Два" (dva = two), "Бананка" (bananka = banana). It helps, but most EU players use English callouts.
Play the map 50 times. You'll naturally learn by hearing teammates. Don't try to memorize from a list; learn in context.
Same thing. "Lit" and "Tagged" both mean "I damaged them." Just use one consistently.
No. Only call NEW information. If everyone already knows "Two B," don't repeat it. Call updates: "One B rotated Mid" is new info.
